1. Could you please introduce yourself to all BCEU attendees?

Hi! my name is Sara. I was born in Cordoba (Spain) and I’ve been living in Madrid for 12 years now, working as an illustrator, art director and art teacher. At this moment my work is mainly focused on custom dolls, illustration and crafting.

2. How and when did you join the Blythe community?

It was in July 2009 that I bought my first doll, a Dainty Biscuit called Gominola. During those days I started to investigate about customizing and discovered all about models, molds, tools… One day the girls organized a picnic. I turned up with my doll and met wonderful people, awesome customs… I got totally hooked on the hobby ever since.

3. Why did you start customizing / sewing / crafting?

I completely fell in love with custom Blythes. When I learnt the differences between a “stock” one and a custom, I decided that something had to be done. Besides, I already had a lot of useful tools on hand (since I studied Fine Arts), and I was eager to experiment a little bit.

4. Where do you find your inspiration?

Mostly from children and their cute expressions. I adore their naughty, grumpy, sad, or happy faces, so expressive and pure. I usually look for pictures of kids for carving references and then I imagine the final character in my mind, even with her voice, quirks and likings. Some other ideas come out from my own illustrations and designs.

5. What will you offer us in your stall?

Apart from a couple of hola gominola girls I’ll have illustrations, hand-painted tote bags and hand-made necklaces.

6. Lastly, could you tell us about your next projects?

I will continue to work hard on customizing, trying to find new expressions and cute characters. I have some EBL molds I need to start carving! Also, all my watercolors, pencils and brushes will be around, ready for new illustrations 🙂

1. Could you please introduce yourself to all BCEU attendees?

Hello, my name is Kasia, but you may know me as malkama, this is my nick on flickr and facebook. I am 40 years old and have got 3 kids 😀 I live in Warsaw, Poland.

2. How and when did you join the Blythe community?

It was a complete accident, I have started with Tonner dolls, some bjd’s and through the doll community I’ve found Blythe dolls two years ago and went completely crazy about them!

3. Why did you start customizing / sewing / crafting?

I love trying new things, so I decided I will try to open a Blythe to see what’s inside 😀 and I don’t even know how, but I started to sand her and to carve…and this is how it happened. Then I decided I need some clothes and because everything I liked costed a fortune, i decided to sew myself…

4. Where do you find your inspiration?

Oh, EVERYWHERE!!! Really, since I started customizing I watch people closely on streets, in caffe’s, on bus. I watch their eyes, mouth and noses 😀 I know, a bit like a freak, but can’t stop myself!

I also love nature, i think, nature already created all possible colours, shapes and designs, we just need to look closely 😉

5. What will you offer us in your stall?

I will share my stall with a friend, Zazie, she will prepare some dolls, clothes and accesories for Blythes. She is here: http://zazie.com.pl/dolls/

Me, I will have customized Blythe dolls and clothes for them, casual ones.

6. Lastly, could you tell us about your next projects?

I want to improve my customizing skills – many dolls to customize, sew more and learn how to make beautiful pictures.
